Hero Huddle Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Hero
Huddle mobile and web application and related services (the
“Service”). The Service is provided by Marcus Twichel (“we,” “us,” or
“I”), an individual publisher, under the app identifier
com.herohuddle.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Hero Huddle. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with a parent or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf.
We do not knowingly provide the Service to children under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we will take steps to delete it.
2. The Service
Hero Huddle helps you plan tabletop RPG (TTRPG) sessions and campaigns with friends. Features may include:
- Passwordless sign-in with email one-time codes
- Profiles and avatars
- Friend search and friend requests
- Campaigns and scheduled or unscheduled sessions shared with people you include as members
- In-app notifications and push notifications (iOS and Android)
The Service may change over time. Some screens or features (for example, chat-style UI) may be incomplete or not yet backed by server-side message storage. We do not promise that every feature shown will work the same way forever.
3. Accounts
You sign in with an email address and a one-time code we send you. There is no password. You are responsible for:
- Providing a valid email address you control
- Keeping access to that email secure
- Activity that occurs under your account
Use one account per person. Do not share your account or try to access someone else’s account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that appear compromised or abusive.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse other users
- Post or share illegal, hateful, or sexually exploitative content involving minors
- Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity in a deceptive way
- Spam, scrape, or overload the Service
- Attempt to bypass security, authentication, or access controls (including database row-level security)
- Use the Service to violate law or the rights of others
- Interfere with other players’ enjoyment of the Service in bad faith
Hero Huddle is a social space for organizing games. Respect other people’s boundaries, pronouns, and who they include in their campaigns and sessions. For a clearer, TTRPG-aware explanation of what is allowed (including labeled in-game fiction) and what is banned, see our Community Guidelines.
We may remove content or restrict accounts when we reasonably believe these rules were broken.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit, such as profile text, avatar images, campaign and session titles and descriptions, location notes, and similar materials (“User Content”).
By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as needed to operate and improve the Service, including showing campaign and session content to members you include and directory profile fields to other signed-in users.
You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your User Content and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.
We do not claim ownership of your User Content. We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we are required to remove by law.
6. Friends, profiles, and campaigns
Hero Huddle is designed so that signed-in users can find and connect with each other:
- Other authenticated users may see directory profile fields such as username, display name, and avatar (not your email)
- Avatar images may be available via public storage URLs
- Campaigns and sessions are visible only to people included as owners, players, or game masters (including pending invitations)
Do not put sensitive personal information in public profile fields, session locations, or other content you share widely.
7. Fees
The Service is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce paid features or change pricing later. If we do, we will provide notice and update these Terms as needed. You will not be charged without agreeing to applicable pricing terms.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage
- PostHog — product analytics, error tracking, and personalization of the Service
- Shorebird — mobile release and over-the-air updates (where applicable)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — push notifications on iOS and Android
- Google Fonts — fonts that may be loaded when you use the app
By using the Service, you agree that we may send usage, diagnostic, and related data to PostHog so we can measure how the app is used, find and fix errors, and tailor the product experience. How that data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy. PostHog’s own terms and privacy policy also apply.
On iOS and Android, we may send device tokens to Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) so we can deliver push notifications. How that data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy. Google’s privacy policy also applies.
Their terms and privacy practices also apply to their processing. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that campaigns, sessions, or social interactions arranged through the Service will meet your expectations. You use the Service at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MARCUS TWICHEL WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY $0) OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed by law.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. In-app account deletion is not yet available; to request deletion of your account and associated data, contact us using the email below.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive termination.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after the updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles that would require another jurisdiction’s laws. Courts in the United States will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, except where prohibited by applicable consumer law.
